When you want an SUV that can take you where you want to go, you'll want to consider one of the many compact SUV models on the market. Two that stand out from the crowd are the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport and the Toyota RAV4. You can learn more about the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport from Premier Mitsubishi, but you can see how it stacks up against the 2024 RAV4 here.
Both the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport and 2024 Toyota RAV4 are five-seat models. The Outlander Sport offers standard four-wheel drive while the base trim of the RAV4 starts out as front-wheel drive. Remote engine start is available as an option on the Mitsubishi but not available on the base trim of the RAV4. Mitsubishi also provides a larger fuel tank at 16.6 gallons, which means fewer stops on your trips. With a little more ground clearance on the Outlander Sport, you can be more confident in clearing obstacles.
While all new models come with a warranty, Mitsubishi takes it a step further with one of the best warranties in the industry. The basic bumper-to-bumper warranty is for five years or 60,000 miles compared to the RAV4 with three years or 36,000 miles. Mitsubishi provides a powertrain warranty for ten years or 100,000 miles, which is also above the RAV4 at five years or 60,000 miles. Roadside assistance lasts for five years on the Outlander Sport with the RAV4 providing two years. Both models include cruise control with the base trim while Mitsubishi adds adaptive steering to its base.
These compact SUVs are stylish and sporty, offering features like daytime running lights and fog lamps. Both models include power mirrors, but only the Outlander Sport has heated mirrors on the base trim. Roof rails are also an option on the base Mitsubishi model but only on the higher trims of the Toyota. With a slightly shorter length and wheelbase, the Outlander Sport has a smaller turning diameter, making it a better choice for driving in congested areas. Passengers will find about the same space inside with the front legroom and headroom being slightly more in the Mitsubishi model. As you reach the higher trims, you'll see that the two models are similar with both including Android Auto or Apple CarPlay to pair your phone to the vehicle. They each upgrade the base audio system with more speakers and a clearer sound system to enhance your ride.
